The Main Campus of McDaniel College is located in Westminster, Maryland, a short distance from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. Both cities offer students exceptional opportunities for internship, learning and leisure.

On the picturesque, 160-acre campus 40 buildings and several sport facilities (gyms, a fitness center, a swimming pool, volleyball, basketball, squash and tennis courts, a soccer field, a golf course) serve the students. Campus facilities include the 170.000-volume Hoover Library (including an audiovisual media and microcomputing center), a recently completed Science Center, multimedia presentation classrooms, a modern photographic laboratory, a graphic arts computer classroom, and a recently restored art gallery, as well as a Writing Center. At Westminster, students usually reside on campus and participate in the traditional full board plan.

McDaniel College offers a wide range of specialization: 23 major and 37 minor fields of study. The relatively small student body of 1.600 undergraduates enables the college to care about its students in a personal way, both for the truly exceptional students and for those who experience difficulties and need advice or help.

McDaniel College, Westminster, MD, was founded in 1867, and is one of the first coeducational colleges in the United States. It was originally named after the Western Maryland Railroad Company, whose president offered a generous donation for the building of the first residence halls on College Hill in Westminster, the seat of Carroll County, in Maryland. The college was renamed McDaniel College in 2002, in honor of William Roberts McDaniel, a distinguished member of the college community – a graduate, later professor, President and Trustee in the first decade of the twentieth century – whose leadership greatly contributed to the growth of the institution.

The International Programs Office of the Maryland Campus assists international students in their transition from the Budapest Campus, Hungary and other countries to Westminster and throughout their stay at the College. Kerriann Ring, Assistant Director of International and Off-Campus Study, serves as international student advisor and assists with issues of personal and cultural adjustments as well as academic concerns.

The International Programs Office is also the main campus resource center for all students interested in study abroad opportunities and assists them at every stage of the study abroad application process. In addition to the numerous study abroad programs around the world that are available to McDaniel students, the IPO coordinates the McDaniel College Budapest study abroad program for U.S. students who wishes to study at our branch campus in Hungary for a semester or full year.
