Corfu is a beautiful Greek island located in the Ionian Sea, off the north-western coast of Greece. It is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and picturesque towns and villages. Upon visiting this beautiful island, there were multiple must-see destinations and things to try. Here are a few of the wonders Corfu has to offer:

The Beaches: Corfu is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, with crystal-clear blue waters and soft sand, not to mention the fresh ocean air that hits you almost immediately upon exiting the airport. Some of the most popular beaches include Paleokastritsa, Glyfada, and Agios Gordios. There are also multiple random ladders leading to the waters all around cities, this is so you have the freedom to swim whenever you please.

Towns and villages: Corfu has many charming towns and villages, with traditional Greek architecture and colourful buildings. Corfu is also the name of the main city on the island, and it is known for its Venetian architecture, narrow alleys, and historic buildings. You can see vines and plants forming all over buildings and restaurants giving it a very tropical feel.

Food and drink: Greek cuisine is delicious, and Corfu is no exception. You can try traditional Greek dishes such as souvlaki, moussaka, and tzatziki, as well as fresh seafood and local wines. One of the wines we had ordered when eating at a Greek restaurant was Kakotrygis, a bright yellowish white wine with green reflections. A Fruity taste with rich colours especially yellow and lemon blossom, with a cool harmonious after taste.

Outdoor activities: Corfu is a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts, with plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, and water sports such as kayaking, snorkelling, and windsurfing. Although we did not do professional snorkelling, we did look through swimming goggles to see the beautiful sea life under the Corfu waters.

History and culture: Corfu has a rich history and culture, with many ancient ruins, museums, and art galleries. You can visit the Achilleion Palace, the Museum of Asian Art, or the Old Fortress for a taste of the island’s history and culture. When I visited, we had the privilege of visiting the Museum of Asian Art. The moment you enter you are engulfed by the intricate designs all over the walls, along with the red and gold colours. There are multiple doors leading to different sections of the museum, and each section has different themes, from the ancient sculptures to the vibrant paintings.

Nightlife: Corfu has a vibrant nightlife scene, with many bars and clubs open late into the night. The most popular areas for nightlife are Kavos, Ipsos, and Sidari. Music fills the narrow alleys of the city, with crowds of people outside.

Overall, visiting Corfu is an unforgettable experience, with something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are looking for relaxation on the sandy beach, adventure in the great outdoors, or a taste of Greek culture and history, Corfu has it all. The locals of Corfu are so friendly that you will get a warm welcome wherever you choose to explore!
