Budapest is a city rich in history, culture, and stunning views, so what is better way to experience it all than from one of its many high-quality rooftop bars? Whether you’re looking for a chic and stylish atmosphere, a relaxing oasis, or a trendy hot-spot, the Hungarian capital has got you covered.
One of the top rooftop bars in Budapest is Leo Rooftop, located on top of the Hotel Clark Budapest, right by the famous Chain Bridge, on the Buda side (Clark Ádám tér 1). With its cosmopolitan and stylish atmosphere, this rooftop bar is the perfect place for a drink or a bite with a view to majestic Danube running next door. The bar offers a great selection of unique signature cocktails, champagne, and burgers, all served with panoramic views over the city skyline. Although their mini burgers and fries were tasty, they didn’t leave me wanting more. Instead, I was impressed by their homemade gnocchi, but overall, most of their dishes were delectable. If I had to sum up what it means to visit Leo, it’s a great view with a good feast.

If you’re looking for a more relaxing rooftop experience, the Sky Garden at the Mystery Hotel Budapest (Podmaniczky utca 45.) is the place to visit. This chic and charming roof terrace is surrounded by greenery and offers panoramic views over the city, along with special cocktails and a relaxing atmosphere. The Sky Garden is located right by the Nyugati Railway Station, making it a convenient place to stop and unwind after a day of exploring the city. Besides offering wonderful drinks and sights, this place also has historical significance with little secrets. The building, now operating as the Mystery Hotel, was initially constructed in the 19th century, when two separate Freemasonry groups (the Blue Lodge and the Scottish Ritual Grand Orients) merged to form the first headquarters of the Symbolic Grand Lodge of Hungary. The great sanctuary on the fourth floor was one of the most important halls in the building and, as a result, its design and decoration were also the most demanding. The hotel’s current owners have restored this Freemasonry heritage, which now serves as a publicly accessible hotel, café and a rooftop bar. So, if you are interested in exploring a new side of the city’s history, go check it out and feel as if you are also part of the secret society.

For wine lovers, SOLID Rooftop Wine Restaurant, located on top of Hotel Rum (Királyi Pál u. 4.) in the heart of the Budapest’s old town is a must-visit. With its retractable roof and panorama glass wall, SOLID is open year round, offering a wide selection of wines, as well as bites from the Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant SALT below. Whether you’re looking to warm up on a cold winter day or to have a drink under the sky in the summer, SOLID is the perfect place to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the stunning view. I had brunch at SOLID Rooftop, and everything was excellent: the food is 10/10; the views are also 10/10, and I think the prices are also reasonable. Although it might sound intimidating to dine in Michelin restaurant, don’t worry, you won’t have to sell a kidney for having brunch. Budapest is a city rich in rooftop bars, each offering a unique and unforgettable experience. So why not grab a drink, sit back, and enjoy the stunning views from one of these amazing rooftops?
