McDaniel's International Dinners

By Sarah B

The spring semester of 2017 has seen a revival in McDaniel’s social events. Prominent among these events that are set to get the students together are the International Dinners. They are organized by the visiting professor, Josh Ambrose, who kindly opens the doors of his apartment and welcomes whoever is willing to take part.

The first dinner took place on the evening of February 13th. The theme was American, and our cooks, Tyler Van Dyke and Zac Scheaffer, served us a rich and savory soup from Pennsylvania, plus very tasty apple pies for dessert. The warm atmosphere and substantial participation made the event such a success that it was decided that more International Dinners would be held.

A bit more than a month later, on the 24th of March, the second international dinner took place. Specialties from Nigeria, Madagascar, Congo and Algeria were prepared by the cooks from each of these countries.

The International Dinner experience is said to be repeated by the end of the semester, this time in the form of a great potluck to celebrate the end of the classes. More details about the place and the time will hopefully be communicated to the students in the coming days. Hopefully, this new tradition won’t be lost, and will be perpetuated in upcoming semesters. Stay tuned https://www.facebook.com/groups/360569477660678/permalink/406916679692624/ !
